Adityanath made the statement at a public meeting in Deoria. Adityanath was quoted by the news agency as saying, "UP came to be known as the place where donkeys crowd the streets and where it was completely dark after nightfall. We have now decided to ensure that by 15 June, UP's streets are donkey-free."
In the meeting, Adityanath also said that he will ensure that every district headquarters and tehsil would get at least 20 hours of electricity every day.
Cow protection has been one of the guiding principles of the newly formed government. Adityanath spoke of cow protection while visiting a cowshed in his parliamentary constituency of Gorakhpur.
He was quoted by ANI as saying, "Cows are also required in religious rituals of the Hindus. Cowsheds will be promoted in all the districts. The central government is also promoting cowsheds in UP and other states. We will take assistance of the central government in setting up cowsheds and dairies.
